02WHAT WE CHECK

Free SEO check: what the report shows.

The tool helps locate issues on specific pages. Consider each finding in the context of the page’s purpose: repeated titles or descriptions do not all have the same impact.

Free SEO check: frequently asked questions

What does the free SEO check cover?

The check covers up to 20 pages: title and meta description comparisons, internal link availability and findings with URLs. It does not analyse every page or every aspect of SEO. For a large website, start by reviewing the commercially important pages and the scope shown in the report.

Are identical titles always an error?

Not always. Check whether the URLs represent different services or products, variations of one item or duplicate addresses. An automated finding is a signal to investigate. Before editing, establish each page’s purpose and which URLs should appear in search.

What if a page cannot be checked?

Open the reported URL in a browser and check whether it works. Automated access may be limited by website settings, authentication or a server response. An incomplete check does not prove that the page has been deleted. Establish the cause before redirecting or removing a URL.

Does the result show Google rankings?

No. This check reviews selected website elements rather than Google rankings or future traffic. Search performance is analysed separately, for example in Google Search Console. Use the tool’s findings alongside that data when planning a manual audit.

Are fixes included?

The automated report is free and does not change your website. Manual analysis and fixes can be commissioned separately. Before starting, agree the pages to review, changes to implement, cost and how the result will be validated.

How should I act on the findings?

Start with the pages used in ads, service enquiries and product categories. Record the affected URL, its impact and the proposed change. Identical titles on two distinct service pages call for a content review; a duplicate technical URL may need a different solution. Do not apply one fix to every finding.

After editing, check the pages in a browser and run the check again. Compare the affected URLs rather than just the total number of findings. If a link changed, also review the page containing it. Assess search performance separately in Search Console; this report cannot confirm when Google will reflect an update.

Free SEO check: how to review the findings

Example: two service pages share one title

Suppose your website development and online store development pages both use “Services | Company” as their title. A free SEO check helps identify the match. Open both pages first: do they describe different services, or are they two addresses showing the same content?

For distinct services, each title should describe the specific offer on that page. Use the description to explain who the service is for and what a visitor can expect. Changing a single word across ten similar titles is less useful than establishing the purpose and content of each page.

On WordPress, review the SEO plugin’s title templates as well. When many pages share a title, the cause may be a common setting. Editing one page will not resolve a faulty template across the website. After updating the setting, inspect several pages of the affected type and run the check again.

This is an illustrative example. A matching title alone does not establish that two URLs compete in Google results. That assessment requires reviewing their content, indexing and available search performance data.

Example: the report lists an unreachable internal link

Open the destination and the page containing the link. Compare the exact addresses: a typo, language prefix or old page path may lead somewhere else. If a redirect occurs, check whether the final page matches what the link text promises.

When a service moves, identify the appropriate replacement page first. Update the link so visitors reach that page directly. Consider the old URL’s redirect separately. Sending every missing page to the homepage does not help someone find the particular service they expected.

If the link works in a browser but the tool cannot read it, investigate access restrictions and the server response. Do not treat this finding as evidence of a deleted page without further checks. A publicly viewable page and automated access can behave differently.

Record the affected URL, the source of the link, the chosen fix and the verification date. After editing, click the link again and compare the relevant addresses in the new report. A free SEO check can also support validation of selected fixes within its stated scope.

Why can the text in Google results differ?

The report compares the title and meta description readable on the page. Google’s displayed title and snippet may also use other page content. A difference between the report and the search result therefore does not, by itself, mean that your SEO plugin failed to save an update.

After editing, first check which metadata is published on the page itself. Review the search result and available Search Console information separately. There is no need to change the description daily merely because Google has not displayed your chosen text. This tool does not determine when a search result will update.

A description should explain the particular page’s offer. When a description is missing, consider what a reader would find useful before visiting that page. Use accurate conditions and natural language rather than a list of keywords. Your description is a suggestion for the search engine, not a guarantee that Google will display it unchanged.
